Who is responsible

When you browse the site

I use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits. No cookies are used. For each visit it records the time, the page address, where you came from, country and city derived from the IP address, device type, operating system and browser. The IP address itself is not stored. A visit is identified by a hash of the request, which is discarded after 24 hours. I see only aggregated numbers and cannot trace them to a person.

Besides visits I count a few events: starting the self-assessment, finishing it, copying the result, and clicking the email address or LinkedIn. Events carry a name only, never answers, text or email addresses.

The legal basis is legitimate interest in knowing which content is useful and whether the site works.

The self-assessment

Your answers are scored in your browser. They are neither sent nor stored. If you choose to send me the result, it goes in an email you send yourself.

Email and enquiries

If you email me, I use it to reply and to prepare a meeting if you ask for one. I keep the email while the conversation lasts. If a contract follows, records tied to it are kept for as long as Icelandic bookkeeping law requires. The legal basis is legitimate interest in replying, or steps taken at your request before entering a contract.

Who processes the data

Vercel Inc. hosts the site and counts visits as a processor. Vercel is a US company certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which is the basis for transfers there. When serving pages, Vercel processes the IP address, the location derived from it and browser information, among other things for security.
Mail hosting for ragnar@cognia.is is with a provider acting as Cognia's processor.

The site's font is served from the site itself, so no requests go to Google or anyone else when a page loads.

Your rights

You have the right to know what I hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict processing, and to receive your data. Send a request to ragnar@cognia.is and I will reply within a month. You can also complain to Persónuvernd, the Icelandic Data Protection Authority.
